Spartium

Occurring throughout the European and Asian Mediterranean, the Spanish broom only has one species, S. junceum (rush-like, referring to the simple shoots) which typically grows on poor soils, in hotter garden locations. It's very well suited to growing in our Gravel Garden. Deciduous, upright shrub, with yellow pea flowers in summer and autumn.
