Spider ferns, bristle ferns, typically evergreen, from Asia (around 76 different species), often with a shiny sheen to the foliage. They tend to be sub-tropical to tropical in origin, so have been used as houseplants in the UK, but a few can be grown outside, preferably in a shady location and good soil.
In common with most ferns, this genus has few specific wildlife values, aside from providing ground cover to amphibians and invertebrates.
