Anaphalis

These grey-leaved plants come from damp places and in Beths experience they do wilt where true drought lovers like Artemisia flourish. A more retentive soil is required, where they will produce their display of tiny, white, everlasting daisies. Great for drying when picked fresh before the centre of each flower turns brown.

The small but numerous flowers in tight flowerheads attract small pollinating insects. Increasingly the everlasting species are being found outside of gardens but generally in brownfield sites, where they pose relatively little ecological risk.
