Shrubs and subshrubby perennials, some similar to stachys with their white-woolly foliage, but with flowers typically yellow flowers. Good for the dry garden, rockery, in sunny situations on well-draining poor soils.
As with most members of the mint family, the tubular, two-lipped flowers are designed to limit access to the nectar to specific groups/sizes of pollinators, attracting in this genus primarily honeybees and small bumblebees.
