Daucus

A familiar umbel to all, as this genus contains D. carota, the humble carrot. Herbaceous, biennial, perennials, with divided, ferny-foliage, flowers white to pink, with often conspicuous and attractive bracts. Despite only around 40-50 species, they are native to all continents. Also now includes the outdated genus Melanoselinum.
