Phyteuma

A very distinctive genus, related to the bellflowers, Phyteuma species mostly have striking blue flowerheads, comprising numerous tubular, often upcurved, flowers. Two are native to Britain, albeit rarities from southern English chalk and limestone, but all add interest to a rock garden and help to feed visiting bumblebees, honeybees and hoverflies.
