Brunnera

There are only three different species of Brunnera, with most garden worthy plants being derived from B.macrophylla. the great forget-me-not, or Siberian bugloss is happier in shady spot, with reasonable moisture, but will cope with drier conditions. Full sun will likely scorch the foliage. Flowers, in open sprays, blue or white. Foliage, generally heart-shaped, with different forms ranging through almost entirely silver, to cream variegation and spotted patterns.

The flowers are visited by smaller bees and bee-flies that are happy to forage under shade. Steps should be taken to avoid the plants escaping from gardens, as their dense, ground-cover foliage can eliminate native species from natural habitats.
