Physocarpus

With clusters of hawthorn-like flowers, Physocarpus attracts a similar range of insect life, from bees to butterflies, although its fruits are bladder-like (not fleshy) and therefore not a significant food source for birds. And the shrubby growth is often too lax to form a valuable bird-nesting habitat.
