Typically sun loving shrubs and perennials from South and Eastern Africa into Arabia. Daisy-like yellow, showy flower heads often through much of the year. In the UK, although grown as half-hardies, they can persist in sheltered gardens or a a sheltered position, on well drained soils. Good for pots.
As with all 'daisy-like' flowers, the disc-flowers in the centre of the flower head produce nectar and pollen that are attractive to insects, such as bees, hoverflies and butterflies. The fact that these Michaelmas daisies are not all restricted to open, sunny sites helps to extend the late summer pollinator provision into shadier realms.
