Hepatica

A rather exquisite relative of Anemone. 9 species found across North America, Europe and northern Asia, normally in woodlands. Dark green, attractively lobed leaves, with typically blue flowers in spring, although they can be white to purple or double. Best grown in shade, but with their diminutive nature plant carefully so that they are not out competed.

At least the non-doubled forms are a delightful addition to any spring shade garden, where they will attract all manner of pollinators, including bees, flies and beetles.
