Distylium

Related to witch-hazels, Distylium is a genus little known to British gardeners. As an actively evolving genus, there are a number of species in the Far East, some of which are restricted to very small geographic areas. The wildlife values of this genus are essentially unknown, though the evergreen foliage will give shelter to birds, and the spring flowers may attract some pollinating insects.
