Cneorum

Two interesting Mediterranean shrubs with yellow flowers that often have just three petals. C. tricoccon is insect-pollinated and (in its native range at least) also pollinated by lizards. It can flower all year round, reflecting its status as a relict species from a more Tropical geological era. The leaves are full of strongly-scented chemicals (as is normal in the rue family) and so are not usually nibbled by caterpillars.
