Urban Planters
Emily has been putting her years of design experience to good use, planning and planting a new display on our nursery. Emily was directly trained by Beth and worked alongside her for many years practicing the philosophy we are so well know for - right plant, right place.
We have now brought this philosophy forward to bring life to urban areas.
Always keen to trial and experiment with different growing mediums, we are testing the limits of plants to help guide our customers when choosing what will be the right plants for them. We have successfully grown in sand and other substrates for local projects (find out more here), which has helped us select a range of low maintenance, drought tolerant plants for such testing growing conditions.
To build on our plant range suitable for urban schemes, we are now trialing large containers and experimenting with different growing media and irrigation.
Irrigation is particularly challenging in urban areas, so it will be interesting to see how the chosen plants fare with minimal watering.
We'll keep you updated with what we learn over the growing season.

I wonder if you have any thoughts on planting (informally) into a rotting woodpile.. I work at a playscheme where the remains of a trunk has been brought down as it may have fallen soon, and is now a large pile - the size of a laaarge sofa - we’re happy to let it rot down in situ of course but due to its size I wondered about planting into it to add some interest..
All input very welcome
Again, love what you’re doing here, will certainly try and make a trip up soon!
