One of the invasive plants of most concern worldwide, in the UK its spread (at present) is relatively easily contained. Probably the best that can be said for it in wildlife terms is that its hollow bamboo-like stems, if harvested, can be cut and bundled, and turned into free bug hotels, providing overwintering sites for beneficial predators such as ladybirds and lacewings.
