Provided some thought is given to shelter from the worst winds, and the soil has been suitably prepared, i.e. humus has been added to dry sandy soil, or grit and humus have been added to lighten very heavy soil, the following plants should prove reliable.

On the 10th April, members of the stock bed team hosted Beth Chatto’s first Miscanthus Championship, an Olympic-like event where two teams competed to see who could dig up miscanthus plants the fastest.
