Simply add a little water and rub away the rust and sap before you sharpen. Keep a rag handy to wipe off the resulting muck, then protect your newly cleaned blades with a little Camellia Oil.

Best usage
- Wet the Clean Mate before use.
- Keep a pot of water handy to keep re-wetting, and use a rag to wipe away muck as you go.
- Store in the Niwaki Pouch with a Sharpening Stone and Camellia Oil for regular, on-the-go cleaning.
- Work on a stable surface, so that the tool has something to rest on, and go steady!
- For shears we recommend wrapping the blade you’re not currently working on in a rag to avoid cutting yourself.
