Sasa veitchii

This ground-covering bamboo has wide blade-shaped leaves, plain green all summer, but by autumn the leaf margins become blanched, straw-yellow, giving a bold variegated effect throughout winter. Makes dense colonies of invading stems so only suitable for large gardens. Useful to bind clay banks of reservoirs or lakes. Spread indefinite.
