Eryngium x zabelii

This name covers hybrids between E. alpinum and E. bourgatii. Initially the spiny intricate bracts are silvery white and the closed cone of flowers are green. They then transform to beautiful large steely blue flowers and bracts, enhanced by dark stained stems.
