Black parsley. A sumptuous, exotic-looking short-lived perennial. On maturity, atop a sturdy, ridged stem are masses of pink flowers, in many umbels, from late spring into summer, producing a stunning effect. It may take a couple of years to get to flowering and then the plant dies, but plenty of seed is produced ready for the next generation. A great plant for a tropical-effect garden, thriving on rich soils, with reasonable moisture. Not fully hardy in colder districts, but has survived here and on drier soils.
