Although best in a moisture retentive soil, this is a useful evergreen grass for sun or shade which will also tolerate drier conditions. Airy panicles of tiny chestnut-brown flowers emerge above hairy-edged leaves in early summer. Will spread slowing by stolons to provide good ground cover.
