Should be planted more often in sunny well-drained gardens as relief among silver-grey leaves. Forms small dense bushes covered with tiny dark green aromatic leaves, topped in midsummer with spikes of deep violet-blue flowers. The leaves have a slightly bitter, minty flavour, but small quantities can be added to salads, or to spice up soups and sauces. Flowers can be added to dishes.
