This was given to Beth many years ago by Graham S. Thomas. This old hybrid earns its place in open spaces in my wood garden by flowering precociously early, often in January. It continues to look well into March. It does not have the grace of the wild species, but I warm to such a sturdy, jolly looking flower so early in the year, with its confident dash of colour made with rich yellow trumpets and slightly paler petals. I enjoy the dark green shading on their backs. Harmful if eaten. Potential skin irritant.
Dry bulbs.
