Helleborus 'Anemone Red'

Lenten rose. In late winter burgundy-red flowers open before the new leaves arise. Evergreen foliage makes a strong feature all summer. We cut the leaves off in winter (as low to the ground as possible and before the flowers appear). This is for aesthetic reasons and helps prevent the spread of fungal diseases, which can damage the emerging stems. Harmful if eaten.
