A super attractive shrub, small tree, which produces trumpet-shaped, hanging flowers of dark blue to purple, during summer. Foliage is soft and downy. Great in tropical-effect border, or as a pot specimen. Hardy once established, especially if in a sheltered garden position, or in coastal or city gardens. Elsewhere it may need more winter protection. In mild winters it can be evergreen, otherwise its deciduous. Best pruned in early spring, as coming back into growth and once there is less chance of frost.
