Tall stems carry slender spires of pure-white flowers, enhanced by star-shaped green sepals which show between spaced, tissue-paper petals. From the centre of each extends a curly, four pronged, pale green pistil. Spires of unopened buds above open flowers, with rows of pale sterile seed pods below, maintain interesting form and colour for weeks, in late summer. Slowly invasive, not troublesome. A restful plant for retentive soil and sun. Synonym Epilobium.
