This stunning Californian subshrub produces some of the whitest leaves we have seen, which are also strongly scented. From mid summer, tall, upright spikes of small white to lilac small flowers, but surrounded by a dark purple calyx, contrasting well with the pale foliage. Currently trialling with us against a south facing wall, to test hardiness. Likely will be cut down by frosts, but is showing a good tendency to re-shoot from older stems. If away from the coast, cities or sheltered gardens, its best in a pot.
Salvia apiana
