An unusual herbaceous perennial, from Eastern Europe into Central Asia. Growing in open sites, on light soils. Often twining stems are topped with reddish-purple starry flowers, followed by thin bean-like pods. Grown near smaller shrubs will support the stems and show off the flowers to their best.
