Purchasing Tickets

To purchase a ticket, please visit the ticket webpage and select ticket type. ‘Add to Basket’. complete the required registration details. If you purchase a concession ticket as a student, valid proof of student status must be presented at the event.

In-Person Ticket Includes:

  • Two days of lectures at the University of Essex
  • Refreshments and a light lunch on both days
  • A Garden Party at Beth Chatto Gardens on the evening of Thursday 27th August, including coach transport from the University of Essex to the Gardens and return, and food and drink.
  • A day of talks, tours and workshops at Beth Chatto Gardens on Saturday 29th August
  • Access to lecture recordings after the event

Live Stream Ticket Includes:

  • Live online access to the two days of lectures
  • Access to lecture recordings after the event

 

Purchasing and Registration 

By purchasing a ticket, you agree to provide accurate and complete registration information, including valid contact details, and to comply with these Terms and Conditions.

Unless otherwise stated, ticket prices include entry to the symposium, lunch and refreshments on 27th and 28th August, food and drink at the Garden Party on Thursday 27th August, and return coach transport between the University of Essex and Beth Chatto Gardens for the Garden Party.

Travel to and from the symposium, accommodation, insurance, and any additional personal expenses are not included and must be arranged independently.

If you purchase tickets on behalf of another attendee or group, you are responsible for ensuring that all delegates are aware of and comply with these Terms and Conditions.

 

Refund and Cancellation Policy

  • All tickets are non-refundable.
  • All tickets are non-transferable.
  • Tickets cannot be split across multiple days or shared between attendees.
  • No refunds will be issued for non-attendance or late arrival for any reason.

In the unlikely event that the symposium is cancelled, ticket holders will be notified by email. In this case, you will be entitled to a full refund of the ticket price. We are not responsible for any additional costs you may have incurred, including travel or accommodation.

 

Programme Changes

We reserve the right to make changes to the event programme where necessary. This may include speaker substitutions or schedule adjustments.

 

Filming, Photography and Recording

We reserve the right to film, photograph, or record the event for promotional and educational purposes. By attending, you consent to being filmed, photographed, or recorded and to the use of this content across our platforms and third-party channels.

Recording of talks by attendees is strictly prohibited.
Photography is permitted for personal use only.

If you do not wish to appear in any media, please notify the event photographer or a member of staff on arrival.

 

Data Protection

Your personal data will be processed in accordance with current data protection legislation. We will use your information solely for event administration, communication, and related research purposes. Where necessary, information may be shared with trusted partners involved in delivering the symposium.

The Beth Chatto Symposium is organised by the Beth Chatto Education Trust, a charity dedicated to inspiring, educating and promoting enjoyment and wellbeing for all through gardens and the outdoor environment. Any proceeds from the event will go towards furthering this work.
