Has done well in hot dry summers in gravel soil and full sun. Clump forming, colours well and produces a continual display of fresh new leaves. 1 cm wide ribbon-shaped leaves stained deep maroon, colour intensifying towards the tip. Synonym Imperata cylindrica 'Red Baron'.
