New selection with almost black tipped buds from which open dusky scarlet flowers. Like all the amplexicaulis bistorts it is extremely long flowering, lasting from mid summer and through autumn. Best in a retentive soil in full sun or part shade. Synonym Persicaria amplexicaulis 'Blackfield'.
