Scopolia

Rather under appreciated perennials, scarce in cultivation. Herbaceous, with bell-shaped flowers, yellow, purple, brown, in spring, hanging amongst the foliage. 3 species, 2 in Europe and 1 in Japan.

The tubular, pendent flowers contain nectar and pollen that attracts bees, but the relatively sparse flowering restricts the value of the species to wildlife on the garden scale.
