Our response to the Coronavirus

UPDATE 13th May 2020 - we remain closed to visitors but open for home deliveries UK-wide, and Click & Collect

Thank you for your interest in the Gardens and Nursery. Current Government guidelines have indicated that Garden Centres may open to the public. Although we are not a Garden Centre, the fact that we sell plants means we could fall under that category. However, we have made the decision to remain closed for the foreseeable future in the interest of both our staff and for the  publics safety, health and wellbeing.

We do not want to rush our reopening. While we can offer a beautiful calming space and appreciate that many people are keen to visit, we must consider the impact and ensure that we only reopen after careful consideration and preparation. We are, however, now able to introduce a Click + Collect option for plants bought online. This means that once you have ordered online, you can pick up your plants after two days, Tuesday-Thursday 10-4pm; choose your pick-up day at the online checkout.

After a busy April, our teams are still working hard, maintaining the garden, propagating and bringing plants through the growing stages, restocking our online plant catalogue and carefully packing plants for home delivery or collection. We’re delighted to say that our current home delivery times are generally less than two weeks, often sooner.

We will announce our reopening plans on social media and the website. Please follow us on TwitterFacebook and Instagram for videos and pictures of the beautiful gardens, plants and updates, and if you’d like to be kept updated of the latest developments, please join our mailing list

Wishing you good health

Julia Boulton,

Managing Director of Beth Chatto’s Plants & Gardens, and Beth Chatto’s Granddaughter

Our people and plants are at the heart of what we do

We want to do everything we can to make sure you receive the items you need - and also protect the health and safety of all parties involved.

Whilst policy might change in the coming weeks, we know for now there may be some small adjustments in sending and receiving your plant orders. To enable us to keep up with demand, we are asking for a minimum 6-plant order so that we can try to fulfil as many orders as we can, as quickly as we can.

Sending Plants

We use a dedicated plant delivery company and are keeping up to date with any changes in their delivery times. Currently we're seeing no significant disruption for UK deliveries.

This means you can shop with confidence, and you'll get most of your items by the estimated delivery date. We'll continue to closely monitor this situation and keep you up to date with any changes.

We'd like to echo the Government's stance and say please do ensure you strictly adhere to the social distancing guidelines when couriers deliver your plants.

If you'd like to take a look at a full copy of the guidelines, you can click:

Click and collect

We are currently trialling a Click and Collect service. Order plants online and choose Collection at the checkout. Click and Collect will be available Tuesday-Thursday 10-4pm from the carpark. There will be no access to Gardens or Nursery.

Deliveries

If at any time, we are unable to send out plants, we will look after them for you until they can be transported safely.
