The Tearoom at the Gardens offers seasonal lunches with freshly prepared food, and specialises in delights such as our home-made scones, irresistible sausage rolls and large range of tempting home made cakes, as well as a full afternoon tea. We also have our very own Beth Chatto Gardens coffee: this blend has been selected by the coffee connoisseurs in our Team and they deem it to be the best local coffee around!

You can see our basic menu and what we have to offer by clicking here.

It was built in 2006 with the stipulation that you must be able to enjoy a view of the gardens while you relax. And the Gravel Garden Restaurant does just that. It also has a licence so of course we offer Pimms in summer and mulled wine in winter (as well as a carefully selected range of wines and beers throughout the year).

We have a range of gluten and dairy free options, and if you have any specific dietary requirements, please do get in touch before your visit.

We have extended our outdoor eating areas recently, and now more visitors are able to enjoy their meals outside under the cover of the polytunnel. This area is sometimes used for our Beth Chatto Education Trust events and will be converted in winter to accommodate stall holders for our Christmas Fayre which takes places on the last weekend of November each year.

Access to the Tearoom, Plant Nursery and Gravel Garden is FREE.

To book a table in the Gravel Garden Restaurant email tearoom@bethchatto.co.uk or call 01206 822007 option 5.

The Gravel Garden room is available for private hire: workshops, wedding receptions, christenings, wakes, parties.  We also have the Willow Room for private hire, our specially built lodge which looks out on the serene Water Garden.  For more information on an event or private hire booking please contact events@bethchatto.co.uk or call 01206 822007 option 6.
