Christmas Fayre 26th-27th November 10am-4pm each day
If the idea of warming mulled wine (or mulled apple) and mince pies, Christmas carols sung by local choirs, beautifully crafted Christmas gifts, children’s Christmas crafts, and visitors from Christmasses gone by appeal, then a visit to the The Beth Chatto Christmas Fayre is a must.
It has grown from what used to be some stalls in the acclaimed Tearoom which overlooks the world famous Gravel Garden, to an event with around 45 stalls selling locally sourced and crafted gifts, children’s activities and crafts, music, choirs, hot chocolate, locally sourced warming food, a children’s winter trail around the Gardens and a children’s Christmas story corner...
This magical weekend is taking place on 26th-27th November, the ideal time to make Christmas gift purchases for loved ones. There will be a fantastic selection of handmade and locally crafted gifts, from stallholders who pride themselves on producing items that are unusual, bespoke and make wonderful presents.
Back by popular demand will be the Harmonettes, a trio of singers from nearby Frinton – on –Sea. They’ll be performing on both days of the fayre, as part of a packed programme of performances:
Saturday 26th November
Harmonettes: 10.15am & 1.30pm
Chorus Iceni: 11.15am & 12.45pm
Lexden Choral Society: 12pm & 2.30pm
Miss G: 3.15pm
Sunday 27th November
Interlude Clarinet Ensemble: 10.15am
Ben Pegley: 11.15am & 1pm
Harmonettes: 12pm & 2pm
The Exaltation! Gospel Choir: 3pm
And for the first time, visitors from the Victorian and Edwardian era will be making an appearance. The actors from the Chameleon's Web Theatre Company will be telling visitors all about Christmas in their day and no doubt will be in awe of our modern day objects like smart phones and cameras: a great photo opportunity!
Entrance to the Fayre is a suggestion donation of £1 for adults and 50p for children with proceeds going to our chosen charities.
The fayre is largely outside but undercover of the polytunnel so please dress appropriately and bear in mind that parking will be on ground that may be damp underfoot.
