  • Can I order something that you don't sell?

We stock over 2000 varieties of plant and not all of them make it onto our website. If there is a specific variety or plant you are after, please give us a call on 01206 822007.

  • Availability

Stock levels are kept fully updated on our website.  If you plan to visit our Nursery please do check our website for current availability before travelling.  Alternatively telephone 01206 822007 ext 209 and we will be happy to help.

  • What size pots will my plants be supplied in?

We sell our plants in three different sized pots dependent upon their growth needs:

    • 9cm – for all our alpine plants
    • 1 litre –  for the majority of our herbaceous perennials
    • 2 litre – for shrubs and those herbaceous perennials which require a larger root run
  • Where do you deliver?

We are pleased to be able to deliver our plants throughout the UK.  Unfortunately, we are currently unable to deliver overseas.

  • How much does delivery cost?

Rather than absorb the cost of postage within our plant price we prefer to charge a realistic postage and packing charge.

For orders dispatched to England, Wales and Scottish Lowlands the charge for delivery is:

    • £9.95 for orders up to £200
    • £15.00 for orders from £200 to £500
    • £20.00 for all orders over £500

Please see our Delivery & Returns Page for more information - and charges for Scottish Highlands & Islands, Northern Ireland, Irish Republic and the Channel Isles.

  • When will I receive my order?

Once you’ve placed your order online you will receive a confirmation email.  Your order will then be dealt with as quickly as possible by our experienced mail order team.  Once the Team have selected your plants the status of your order will change to “processing”.  Finally - when your order has been carefully prepared and boxed and is ready to be collected by our courier - you will receive a confirmation email and can expect your plants to arrive the following day (for England, Wales & Scottish Lowlands).  We use a special fragile overnight delivery service to ensure that your plants spend the minimum amount of time in transit. Please see our Delivery & Returns Page for more information - and for delivery times to Scottish Highlands & Islands, Northern Ireland, Irish Republic and the Channel Isles.

  • How do I track my delivery?

Log into “My Account” with your email address and order number and you will be able to see the status of your order.  If you don’t have an account feel free to call our Mail Order team on 01206 822007 ext 209 who will be happy to help.

  • Why has my plant been cut back?

Your plants will be sent out in full growth in exactly the same condition as they are sold on our Nursery.  However, during the growing season, it may be necessary for some plants to be cut back.  Plants with tall stems and lots of foliage may lose a great deal of water in transit and cutting back helps reduce this stress.  Cutting back will not harm your plants but will help in their establishment by promoting new root and shoot growth once planted.

We would like to attend the free spring event on the 22nd April . Do we need a tickets to attend ? Many thanks kiaia
Hi Kiaia, Tickets are not needed to attend the Spring Fest, entry to the garden is free all weekend. There are specialist talks on both days and If you want to attend those, pick up a free ticket from the kiosk on the day. There will be further details on the talks closer to the weekend.
Hi there I'm just checking your dates for Spring Festival weekend..dates appear to be a Mon & Tuesday? Thanks Nicky
Hi Nicky, The 22nd & 23rd April is definitely a Saturday and Sunday. We look forward to seeing you on that weekend.
Oh why, Oh why, is your Spring Festival on the same weekend as the Southend Pier Folk and Ale Festival. That's just cruel. ;) Just a suggestion, if you were to start things off at 6am we could manage both. Neill
Hi Neill, That is a shame! We open at 10am, time for a walk here in the garden, some fresh air, before heading to Southend and settling in for the day ;)
Hi, I am thinking about bringing my mother who is in a wheelchair. Will the talks be accessible for wheelchair users? Also what time does the 'event' start and the times of the talks? Thanks. Diane
The site is accessible for wheelchairs and many of the talks are held in the nursery area, which has a level, hard surface.
Are well behaved dogs on a lead allowed in the garden please?
I'm sorry, but it is assistance dogs only please.
